Crosscrake Community Hub is a modern meeting and events space in the peaceful grounds of St Thomas’ Church, just outside Kendal, Cumbria. Finished to the highest specification and well-equipped with the latest technology, our energy-efficient building offers a warm, versatile space for everything from coffee mornings to private parties and corporate events.
The Hub was built to bring people together by providing a flexible and accessible space for events that reduce social isolation, enhance local residents' health and wellbeing, and foster intergenerational connections.
Hiring the Hub is easy and our rates are very competitive. Hourly rates are £15 (£10 for parish residents) and day-hire is just £100 (£64 for parish residents)*. In addition, we offer premium facilties and other advantages.
The Hub offers small businesses and corporate groups an inspiring space set in a tranquil, rural setting. At just £100 for a full day's hire (9 am to 5 pm), it is one of the most competitive away-day options in Cumbria.

The Hub has been designed to create a welcoming and functional space for a wide range of community, public and private events, for groups of all ages, and includes a well-equipped kitchen/servery and modern audio-visual equipment.
The light and spacious main room (almost 11 m by 7 m) offers a welcoming space for up to 60 guests (50 when seated) and features countryside views, flexible tables/seating, and air-source underfloor heating.
Parking is available on the doorstep. The Hub is easily reached via the A65, either from Kendal or the M6 at Junction 36, making it accessible from a wide area. See our location on Google Maps.
Designed as a fully accessible venue, the Hub has wheelchair-friendly access from the car park, an assisted entrance door, accessible toilet facilities, and hearing loop system. Floodlighting is provided to/from the car park.
A modern audio-visual system features a large HDMI- and WIFI-enabled screen, wall-mounted speakers, free superfast broadband, Bluetooth and WIFI — perfect for presentations, conferencing, or parties.
All bookings have use of the well-equipped kitchen/servery, located within the main room. Appliances include a commercial dishwasher, oven, hob, microwave, fridge and hot water tap. Tea and coffee is complementary too.
Comfortable chairs and square tables can be arranged in various configurations, including café-style, theatre-style, conference-style or open-style (stored away) — with an option to request a specific room set-up when booking.
Underfloor heating ensures warmth year-round and there is no waiting for the room to warm-up before your activity can start. An instant hot water tap in the kitchen/servery adds convenience for refreshments and catering.
Our hire charges are very competitive, with discounts available for full-day (9 am to 5 pm) bookings, bookings made by parish residents, and for bookings of 10 or more events per year.
For a small fee, we can set up the room to your preferred layout and reconfigure the layout after your event. We can also recommend outside catering options for many types of event.
St. Thomas’ church Crosscrake is a lovely country church with excellent acoustics, organ and piano, and is also available to hire. Perfect for concerts, choirs and music groups, there is an option to hire both the church and hub together. Please contact us for further information on combined church and hub hire.

New users will need to register as a "customer" on the Hallmaster system. Your account can be used for all future bookings and to check your bookings and payments. Your name, email address, telephone and postal adress is required, and you will need to choose a password.
Complete the online booking form. The estimated hire charge will be displayed*. If your event is public, provide a clear title and add essential details to the event description (such as what participants need to bring). *Discounts for "regular" bookings (see Charges Summary (PDF)) will be applied later
A hub administrator will review your request and may get in touch to ask for further details. You will receive a Booking Accepted email as soon as your booking has been approved but your booking is not fully confirmed until payment has been recieved.
We will issue a separate invoice by email that will include a payment link via Square (our online payments provider). Please pay promptly to confirm your booking(s). You can also log in to your Hallmaster account to review your invoice and payment history.
Payment online is preferred and you will be invoiced for payment when your booking has been approved (the standard payment term is 7 days). Further guidance on making online bookings and simple online payments can be found on this page.
Bookings can only be made up to 48 hours before the requested hire date. Please contact us directly by email if your request is urgent.
