Crosscrake Community Hub is a modern community space located within the grounds of St Thomas’ Church, Crosscrake, near Kendal, Cumbria. Conceived as an accessible venue for diverse events, it is an ideal space for community, educational, and recreational activities, including coffee mornings, youth groups, exercise sessions, creative workshops, and many other events.

The Hub has been designed to create a welcoming and functional space for a wide range of activities, services, private and community events, for groups of all ages, and includes a servery and modern audio-visual equipment.
The light and spacious main room (almost 11 m by 7 m) offers a modern, warm and welcoming space for up to 60 guests (50 when seated), that is ideal for community activities, business meetings, and private events.
On-site parking is available via St Thomas’ Church car park, and the Hub is easily reached via the A65 from Kendal or from the M6 at Junction 36, making it accessible from a wide area. See our location on Google Maps.
Designed as a fully accessible venue, the Hub has wheelchair-friendly access from the car park, an assisted entrance door, accessible toilet facilities, and hearing loop system, to support inclusive use by guests of all ages.
A modern audio-visual system enhances your event with a large HDMI-enabled screen, wall-mounted speaker system, and free superfast broadband and Wi-Fi — perfect for meetings, presentations, screenings, or hybrid events.
The well-equipped café-style kitchen/servery within the main hall includes a commercial dishwasher, oven, hob, microwave, fridge and hot water tap, enabling easy refreshment service and catering for a wide range of events.
Comfortable chairs and square tables can be arranged in various configurations to suit your event: café, theatre, conference (or stored away) — from social get-togethers or crafting activities, to professional functions.
Underfloor heating ensures warmth year-round and, combined with the Hub’s bright, modern design, the Hub offers a welcoming and pleasant setting for all. An instant hot water tap in the servery adds convenience for refreshments and catering.
Our competitive hire rates include use of the kitchen/servery as standard. Discounts are available for full-day bookings, reduced rates apply for events organised by parish residents, and a 20 % discount is offered for bookings of 10 or more events per year.
For a small fee, we can set up the room to your preferred layout and reconfigure the layout after your event. We can also recommend catering options for many types of event. Note that your own alcohol licence may be required for the service of alcohol at certain events.
St. Thomas’ church Crosscrake is a lovely country church with excellent acoustics, organ and piano, and is also available to hire. Perfect for concerts, choirs and music groups, there is an option to hire both the church and hub together. Please contact us for further information on combined church and hub hire.
We kindly request that all bookings are made online.
Click the button below to start a new booking using Hallmaster (our online booking system). If you are new to Hallmaster, scroll down for an overview or click the button for our step-by-step guide.
New users will need to register as a "customer" on the Hallmaster system. Your account can be used for all future bookings and to check your bookings and payments. Your name, email address, telephone and postal adress is required, and you will need to choose a password.
Complete the online booking form. The estimated hire charge will be displayed*. If your event is public, provide a clear title and add essential details to the event description (such as what participants need to bring). *Discounts for "regular" bookings (see Charges Summary (PDF)) will be applied later
A hub administrator will review your request and may get in touch to ask for further details. You will receive a Booking Accepted email as soon as your booking has been approved but your booking is not fully confirmed until payment has been recieved.
We will issue a separate invoice by email that will include a payment link via Square (our online payments provider). Please pay promptly to confirm your booking(s). You can also log in to your Hallmaster account to review your invoice and payment history.
Payment online is preferred and you will be invoiced for payment when your booking has been approved (the standard payment term is 7 days). Further guidance on making online bookings and simple online payments can be found on this page.
Bookings can only be made up to 48 hours before the requested hire date. Please contact us directly by email if your request is urgent.
