Crosscrake Community Hub is a modern community space located within the grounds of St Thomas’ Church, Crosscrake, near Kendal, Cumbria. The hub was conceived as an accessible venue for diverse events that aim to address rural isolation. As such, it is an ideal space for community social, educational, and recreational activities, including lunch groups, coffee mornings, youth groups, exercise sessions, creative workshops, and many other events.

The state-of-the-art building has been designed to utilise the very latest materials and ecofriendly building technology, ensuring it is both energy-efficient and finished to the highest possible specification.
Use of the hub is open to groups of all ages for a wide range of events and activities. See our facilities to ensure the hub is suitable for your event and our charges summary for hiring rates. Users of the hub must adhere to the Terms and Conditions of hire.
T&Cs (PDF)You can book the hub for any community or private event for up to 60 persons, from small group meetings to private parties, charged per hour, or free for certain groups or event types (a security deposit is required for some events).
How to bookA condition of hire is that the hub is left ready for the next user, which requires adherence to a comprehensive cleaning checklist and return of all hub contents to their original layout or designated storage areas.

The Hub has been designed to create a welcoming and functional space for a wide range of activities, services, and community engagement events, for groups of all ages, and includes a servery and modern audio-visual equipment.
The light and spacious main room of almost 11 m by 7 m has capacity for up to 60 guests (50 when seated at tables) with a variety of layout options possible.
Parking is available on site (utilising St Thomas' Church car park) and the Hub is within easy access of junction 36 of the M6. See our location on Google Maps.
There is wheelchair-friendly access from the car park, an accessible/assisted entrance door, accessible toilet facilities, and a hearing loop system.
The hub has a modern audio-visual system, including a large HDMI-enabled screen, a wall-mounted speaker system, and free super fast broadband internet and wifi.
A well-equipped café-style kitchen/servery within the main hall includes a commerical dishwasher, oven, hob, microwave and fridge, for providing refreshments or food.
Comfortable chairs and square tables in the c. 10.5 m by 7 m main room can be used in many configurations: see the layout options section (below) for details.
St. Thomas’ church Crosscrake is a lovely country church with excellent acoustics, organ and piano, and is also available to hire. Perfect for concerts, choirs and music groups, there is an option to hire both the church and hub together. Please contact us for further information on combined church and hub hire.

Request a booking (via Hallmaster)
Before you can request a booking, you will need to register as a "customer" on the Hallmaster system. This will create an account that you can use for future bookings. You will also be able to log back in to your account to view and amend your bookings. Your full name, email address, telephone and postal adress is required, and you will need to choose a password.
Complete the online booking form. The estimated hire charge will be calculated automatically*. If your event is open to the general public, choose an event title that clearly targets your intended audience, and add further essential details in the event description (such as what participants need to bring). *Discounts for "regular" bookings (see Charges Summary) will be applied later
A member of the hub management committee will review your request and may get in touch to ask for further details. Your booking may at this stage appear on the Hallmaster calendar, but your booking is not confirmed until you have received a Booking Confirmed email and you have paid the invoice issued by the Hallmaster system (see step 4).
Once the event is approved you will recieve confirmation and an invoice for your event, which includes a link to pay online by Debit or Credit Card. If you have chosen to make your booking public it will be appear in the list of "Current public events" available to all visitors to this website (the list updates daily and your event may not appear immediately).
Payment online is also preferred and you will be invoiced for payment when your booking has been approved. Further guidance on making online bookings and simple online payments can be found on this page.
Bookings can only be made up to 48 hours before the requested hire date. Please contact us directly by email if your request is urgent.
